Stirling’s Provost Fergus Wood and German Consul General Wolfgang
Mössinger were the special guests of the Rosenethe Singers for a performance of
War Requiem.
In April this year some members of the Rosenethe Singers went to Berlin to perform Britten's War Requiem alongside the Berliner Konzert Choir and the Embassy Singers in the Berlin Philharmonic.
Lynn Bowser, Rosenethe Singers Chair, said: “We decided to stage it ourselves in Dunblane Cathedral on Remembrance Sunday and invited members of the two Berlin choirs to join us.
"Britten's War Requiem is about the futility and the pain of war and in this anniversary year it seemed very fitting to sing it on this special day and in this special place alongside representatives from the Berliner Konzert Choir and the Embassy Singers. We were very pleased that the Provost and the German Consul-General could mark the occasion by being with us."
Rosenethe Singers are based in Dunblane and draw singers from all over the Stirling area, consisting of about 50 members and sing a wide variety of both sacred and secular music, performing at least two concerts each year.
